Avon recently launched their first long-wear liquid foundation together with a new range of long-wear liquid matte lipsticks and I put in an order from my representative to try them out.

Foundation in shade 'Caramel' and Lipstick in color 'non stop nude'.

The foundation launched with 15 shades to choose from and the website claims are:

  • 100% Matte

  • Foundation is a waterproof formula with SPF 10 protection

  • Lasts for 24 hours

  • All-day coverage, no need for touch up

  • Sweat and heat resistant.

  • No caking or blocked pores

The lipstick line launched with 10 shades to choose from and the website claims are:

  • 16 hours of vibrant color

  • 100% creamy, matte

  • No fading or smudging

My review:

Foundation:

I ordered the 30ml foundation in the shade “Caramel” and the 7ml lipstick in the color “non-stop nude”.

Foundation shade reference: Clinique Beyond perfecting foundation and concealer - Amber, Clinique anti-blemish – Amber, Maybeline fit me matte and poreless foundation - 356 Warm caramel

I am happy with the shade match. Most importantly I am happy with how lightweight the foundation is when it is on my skin. This really was going to be a deal breaker because last summer my go to foundation was my go-to because of this reason.

I have no reason to wear make-up for 24 hours therefore I did not put the foundation up for the wear test. I did however have a busy 8-hour day in the Bloemfontein heat, and I am satisfied with the coverage I had for the day. I did not require any touch up.

The day I put this foundation to the test included a day out in the sun and the claim of no caking or blocked pores gets a thumbs up from me.

Lipstick:

I like the precision applicator, I’m new to liquid lipsticks altogether so for that reason I cannot compare it to that of another brand. I chose the color “non-stop nude” because although “Resilient Red” stood out, I recently bought another Avon lipstick in a red shade so a nude shade was the option B.

I’m still learning to get used to a nude lip on me. For future applications I think it might be best if I line my lips with a brown lip liner before I apply the lipstick.

The formula is creamy as stated. As the day went, I was happy to see that the lipstick did not smudge on spoons or transfer to my coffee mug. After my full day, I was still happy to see that my color hadn’t cracked and was still there.

Conclusion

I enjoyed putting these new products to the test and I’m happy to have them as part of my spring/summer makeup routine.
